What to Bring

Part of an enjoyable and relaxing vacation is making sure you are well prepared. We have put together the following list to help you plan your trip and ensure you remember all the essentials.

Please remember to take all valuables and essential items as carryon when boarding the plane:

Valid Passport and Visa. Be sure to bring a photocopy of your passport as well, in case yours is lost while traveling. Citizens of the USA and Canada do not need a visa to visit Honduras.
U.S. Dollars in small denomination bills, or Honduran Lempiras (the local currency). U.S. dollars are accepted nearly everywhere in Honduras.

Prescription medications and copies of your prescriptions.
Emergency contact information for your family, your physician, your embassy in Honduras, Utila Lodge, and the airlines you will be using.
Travelers Checks, in US currency, are recommended rather than carrying large amounts of cash. American Express and VISA travelers checks are widely accepted.
Credit card(s) are useful in an emergency, but are not accepted everywhere for purchases.
Diving certification card from PADI or equivalent.
Dive gear including mask and any specialized equipment.
Swim suits - two or more.
Clothing made from lightweight cotton, a light rain jacket, walking shoes, sandals, t-shirts, shorts, at least one pair of pants, long-sleeved shirt, a hat for sun protection, and sunglasses.
Personal items such as toiletries.
Insect/mosquito repellent containing DEET (20% DEET recommended).
Camera (and film, if you need it)
Reading material and CDs if you like (Extra books are welcomed for our onsite book exchange).
