I have been to quite a few dive resorts in Central and South America and the Utila Lodge stands out as among one of the best.
From the accommodations and meals, to the quality and assistance of the staff and dive crew, I would highly recommend staying at the Utila Lodge. The facility is clean and the staff was very attentive to each of my needs. The meals were hot and tasty and the bar was easily accessible.
The dive crew and boat captains had a great relationship and the dive gear was always ready and accessible when needed. A short 5 minute walk to the central core of downtown, the Utila Lodge is the only place I would stay on the island.
It’s a family run operation and each member of the family takes a ‘hands on’ approach’ and takes pride in their hotel and it’s evident by the quality of the Utial Lodge. Sitting down each evening for a drink with the family was fantastic and they were able to tell some island tales … they are very accessible. Thanks to Kisty and all the staff.
Plus, while I was there, my girlfriend emailed them a request to leave me some chocolate on my pillow one evening. What a great surprise to see the Hershey Kisses and island flowers on my bed with a personalized note from my girlfriend. The staff just smiled at me the next day … it was great. You won’t get that in any corporate hotel.
